In China, where the technology is a lot further along, there is a company that boasts the ability to build 10 houses in 24 hours using 3D printing.

Though new to the scene, wearable technology is already bringing innovations to civil construction. In the US, companies put smart sensors on workers’ uniforms to improve safety. Sensors applied to helmets can warn if there was an impact. Wristwatches monitor body temperature and help avoid thermal exhaustion. Harnesses help to keep track of who is in a building and if there is a sudden drop in the number of people.
3. Self-leveling Flooring
Self-leveling flooring, also known as self-leveling concrete is a relatively new innovation. It is more viscous and easier to use than other types of mortars. It’s 50% faster to use than pavement which means less space is needed to store it. In this example, the use of self-leveling flooring increased materials cost by 10.31%, but they were able to put together a 450m² slab in just one day instead of seven, which is how long it normally takes.
